Overview
Code Arena combines an AI app builder with a live model-evaluation system. In Battle Mode, two anonymous models receive the same development prompt, build separate results in controlled sandboxes, and let the user inspect, interact with, and vote on the stronger implementation.
The product has expanded beyond single-page frontend prototypes. Fullstack Code Arena supports multi-file projects, PostgreSQL, authentication, row-level security, API keys, third-party integrations, persistent development servers, bash commands, web search, and direct Vercel deployment.
Its value is not limited to getting an app built. Every prompt, action, model version, render, latency measurement, and vote contributes to a traceable evaluation system and category-specific leaderboards. Users should still treat generated code as untrusted, avoid sensitive inputs, and perform normal security and quality review before deploying anything important.
Use cases
The strongest fit depends on the job you need the product to complete, not the size of its feature list.
Run the same prompt against two anonymous models and compare functionality, usability, fidelity, design, latency, and behavior.
Generate and iterate on interactive websites or fullstack applications without assembling the first project structure manually.
Traceable sessions, human preference data, category leaderboards, confidence intervals, and task context support model analysis.
Authentication, databases, integrations, persistence, and deployment can turn a prompt into a testable fullstack proof of concept.
Capabilities
Two models build from the same prompt before their identities are revealed, reducing brand bias during the user's comparison.
Models plan, create and edit files, run commands, inspect results, and refine the application over multiple turns.
Inspect the generated file tree and source while interacting with a running preview inside the same evaluation.
Agents can build with PostgreSQL, authentication, row-level security, backend behavior, external APIs, and persistent data.
A live development server supports iteration and hot reloading, followed by a direct path to deploy on Vercel.
Votes feed transparent rankings with confidence intervals and category views for different web-development task types.
Process
Step 1
Open Arena and select the code modality; use Battle Mode when the goal is a side-by-side model comparison.
Step 2
Describe the audience, pages, interactions, data, authentication, design references, and acceptance criteria.
Step 3
Follow tool calls, file changes, commands, live previews, and any errors or recovery steps in each generation.
Step 4
Open both results and compare functionality, usability, fidelity, responsiveness, visual quality, and code behavior before voting.
Step 5
Inspect code, permissions, dependencies, secrets, database policies, error handling, and security; then deploy only the reviewed result.
Cost
Arena currently offers Code Arena free of charge. Usage is governed by daily credits, per-model limits, and overall rate limits that reset over time. Arena's help center says there is no paid option that removes these rate limits, while its terms reserve the right to introduce charges later.

Code Arena is Arena.ai's AI coding environment for building applications and comparing model outputs through anonymous, side-by-side battles and human voting.
Yes. Arena says it supports PostgreSQL, authentication, row-level security, APIs, persistent development servers, bash, web search, third-party integrations, and Vercel deployment.
Arena currently offers the service free of charge, subject to daily credits and rate limits. Its help center says there is no paid service that removes those limits.
Users compare generated apps and vote based on criteria including functionality, usability, and fidelity. Arena aggregates structured human judgments and reports rankings with statistical uncertainty.
Use caution. Arena says inputs are processed by third-party AI providers and may otherwise be disclosed publicly. Never put sensitive personal information or secrets into ordinary prompts, and use only the platform's designated secret-management controls when appropriate.
Bottom line
Code Arena is unusually valuable because it makes AI coding both productive and inspectable: users can build a working app while generating evidence about how competing models plan, execute, recover, and satisfy the same brief. Its new fullstack capabilities make it useful beyond demos. The tradeoffs are strict free-use limits, significant data-sharing considerations, and the need for disciplined human review before generated software reaches production.
