What Cursor 3 is
Cursor introduced version 3 on April 2, 2026 as a major interface shift. Instead of organizing the product primarily around files and editor panes, the new Agents Window puts concurrent agent sessions at the center and lets developers move between a high-level view of work and the underlying code when needed.
This is not a separate product from Cursor's editor. The Agents Window and traditional IDE can be used side by side, while sessions can move between local and cloud environments. Cursor has continued expanding the version 3 experience with tiled agent layouts, pull-request review, cloud development environments, builds and newer agent controls.
The practical value is coordination: one workspace can surface agents started from desktop, web, mobile, Slack, GitHub or Linear, including work that spans multiple repositories. The tradeoff is operational complexity. Parallel agents still need clear task boundaries, well-configured environments, code review and controls around secrets and network access.
