Overview
What Action Agent is
Action Agent launched in July 2025 as WRITER's general-purpose autonomous enterprise agent. It planned multi-step work, operated inside a temporary Linux sandbox, used browsers and code tools, recovered from failed steps, and returned finished files or hosted artifacts rather than stopping at a chat response.
In November 2025, WRITER combined Action Agent's automation with Ask WRITER's conversational experience under the WRITER Agent name. The original product is therefore best understood as the foundation of WRITER Agent's current Agent mode, not as a discontinued service that customers must replace.
WRITER Agent now sits inside a broader workflow platform. Teams can connect business systems, ground work in a Knowledge Graph, save reusable playbooks, schedule routines, respond to events, apply skills and brand rules, and give administrators control over agent mode, browser automation, web search, hosting, and other capabilities.
