Overview

What Meow is

Meow brings business-finance tools into MCP-compatible AI clients such as Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Cursor and VS Code. A founder can use an agent to begin forming a company and applying for a Meow business account, while an existing customer can connect the agent to view balances, transactions, contacts, invoices and other account data.

The integration goes beyond financial Q&A. Depending on the permissions a person grants, an agent can help create contacts, send ACH or wire payments, make book transfers, issue corporate cards, pay bills and create invoices. Support for crypto transfers is also documented, including USDC on several networks and USDT on Ethereum.

Meow is a fintech company, not a bank. Banking services are provided through FDIC-insured partner banks, and opening an account through an AI agent still requires the same application, identity checks and approval as opening one directly. Deposit insurance applies only to eligible bank deposits under the applicable rules—not to brokerage, securities or crypto products.

Because the MCP connection can expose real financial data and actions, its controls matter more than conversational convenience. Meow uses OAuth scopes and account-level policies so a business can begin with read-only access, require another approver for transfers, set card and spend controls, and revoke access when it is no longer needed.

Use cases

Who Meow is best for

The strongest fit depends on the job you need the product to complete, not the size of its feature list.

Agent-assisted founders

Form a business and begin a bank-account application from an AI conversation, while still completing required review and verification.

Lean finance teams

Ask an assistant to retrieve balances, transactions, statements and counterparties instead of navigating several finance screens.

Controlled payment workflows

Let an agent prepare or initiate ACH, wire, card, invoice and bill-pay actions inside human-defined permissions and approvals.

Agent builders

Connect a custom MCP client to real business-finance tools using OAuth or a tightly scoped API key.

Capabilities

Core Meow features

1

Business formation and onboarding

A dedicated MCP flow can help create a company and start a Meow business-checking application. The application remains subject to Meow's normal eligibility, identity and compliance review.

2

Account visibility

Connected agents can list accounts, balances, transactions, statements, contacts and other supported financial records.

3

ACH and wire actions

Authorized agents can create ACH payments, domestic or international wires and book transfers, subject to the account's scopes and approval policy.

4

Cards and spend management

Teams can issue corporate cards and apply infrastructure-level controls such as spending caps, merchant-category restrictions and approval ladders.

5

Bills and invoicing

Billing permissions let an agent assist with invoices and bill-pay tasks without granting unrelated transfer or card powers.

6

Granular OAuth scopes

Meow separates read access from transfers, cards and billing. A user approves the requested scopes rather than giving every connected agent unrestricted access.

7

Human approval controls

Entity security policies can require a second approver for money movement. Read-only and request-to-spend patterns reduce the risk of accidental autonomous payments.

8

Multi-account operations

Meow's checking product supports multiple accounts, multiple entities, bulk payments, recurring transfers and configurable approval workflows.

Process

How the Meow workflow works

  1. Step 1

    Open or connect an account

Use the new-account MCP flow to begin formation and onboarding, or connect an existing Meow account to mcp.meow.com through OAuth.

  2. Step 2

    Start with read-only access

Grant only the default read scope first and confirm that the assistant can retrieve the intended accounts and records.

  3. Step 3

    Set policies before spend access

Configure approvers, transfer rules, card limits and merchant restrictions in Meow before enabling transfer, card or billing scopes.

  4. Step 4

    Expand and monitor carefully

Add one scope at a time, test with low-risk actions, review the audit trail and revoke the connection immediately if behavior is unexpected.

Meow does not list a separate fee for its MCP connection. Its business checking account has no monthly fee or minimum balance, and Meow lists common payment and card services without a Meow fee. Assessment

Meow strengths and limitations

Where it stands out

  • Combines financial visibility and action tools in one MCP connection
  • Lets teams grant read, transfer, card and billing permissions separately
  • Supports human approval policies and infrastructure-enforced spend controls
  • Covers formation, checking, payments, cards, bills and invoices
  • Core checking has no monthly fee or minimum balance

What to consider

  • Available actions depend on business eligibility, application approval, account configuration and MCP client support
  • An AI agent can make costly mistakes if given broad transfer or card permissions without approval controls
  • Meow is not a bank, and FDIC insurance does not cover every product offered through the platform
  • No separate public MCP pricing schedule makes optional or future integration costs harder to compare
  • Businesses remain responsible for verifying recipients, payment details, compliance and the agent's work

Questions

Meow FAQs

Is Meow a bank?

No. Meow Technologies is a financial technology company. Banking services are provided through FDIC-insured partner banks, subject to their terms and applicable insurance limits.

Can an AI agent open a Meow bank account?

An agent can help form a business and start the application, but the business and its owners still go through Meow's normal identity, compliance, review and approval process.

Can the agent move money on its own?

Only if a user grants the relevant permissions and the account policy allows it. Meow supports read-only access, scoped transfer permissions and approval policies; starting read-only and requiring a second approver is the safer setup.

Which AI assistants work with Meow MCP?

Meow lists Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Cursor and VS Code, and its MCP server can work with other compatible clients.

How much does Meow MCP cost?

Meow does not publish a separate MCP subscription fee. Business checking is advertised with no monthly fee or minimum balance, but optional products and external payment or network costs can have separate terms.

How does Meow secure an agent connection?

The connection uses OAuth permissions for reading data, transfers, cards and billing. Businesses can also apply account policies, second approvals, spend caps and merchant restrictions, then revoke the connection when needed.

Are all funds and products on Meow FDIC-insured?

No. Eligible deposits held at partner banks may receive FDIC insurance under applicable rules and limits. Brokerage, securities and crypto products are not bank deposits and are not protected by FDIC insurance.

Bottom line

Our Meow verdict

Meow is one of the more concrete examples of agentic finance: its MCP server can move from reading account data to performing real banking tasks. That makes it useful for founders and lean finance teams, but the best deployment is conservative—begin read-only, add the minimum necessary scopes, and require human approval for money movement.
