What Figma AI is
Figma AI is not a separate design app. It is a shared layer of AI features across Figma Design, Make, FigJam, Slides, Sites, Buzz, and related products. Current workflows include an on-canvas design agent, prompt-built prototypes and web apps, image generation and editing, visual search, text and layer cleanup, generative plugins, motion assistance, and an MCP server for giving external coding agents structured Figma context.
Its biggest advantage is context: AI can work inside the same files, components, libraries, comments, and collaborative canvas a product team already uses. The tradeoffs are a usage-based credit system, feature availability that varies by product and seat, several important tools still in beta, inconsistent generated output, and data-governance settings that admins should review before enabling AI on confidential work.
