Archive
Velvet is no longer offered as an independent product. Its official site says Arize acquired the company in 2025, and Velvet's acquisition announcement directs future users to Arize, the open-source Phoenix project, and LiteLLM.
Before the acquisition, Velvet evolved from an AI-assisted data-query product into an LLM gateway and observability layer. It could proxy model requests, warehouse logs in a hosted or connected database, query them with text-to-SQL, cache responses, compare models and prompts, run evaluations, and monitor production AI features.
Past capabilities
Historically proxied model traffic so teams could capture requests, responses, latency, cost, and related metadata.
Stored LLM activity in a hosted database or a customer-connected data environment.
Let teams generate queries over logged model and product data using natural-language prompts.
Compared prompts, models, settings, and evaluation metrics in point-in-time or continuous workflows.
Availability
Velvet has no current standalone pricing. Archived 2024 updates advertised free usage allowances that changed over time, so they should not be used for purchasing or budgeting. Review current Arize, Phoenix hosting, LiteLLM, or alternative-provider pricing instead.

Not as an independent product. Velvet announced on March 13, 2025 that it had been acquired by Arize.
Its founders joined Arize, and the official site now directs developers to Arize, Phoenix, and LiteLLM for future AI infrastructure needs.
Its later product proxied LLM requests, stored and queried logs, supported caching, ran model and prompt evaluations, and monitored production AI features.
