Overview
What Udio is
Udio turns a text description into two candidate songs and supports both roughly 32-second ideas and approximately 2-minute-10-second generations. Creators can guide genre, mood, instrumentation, vocals, and lyrics, then extend, remix, inpaint, or edit selected sections.
Its deeper tools include custom lyrics, Styles built from one or two references, a Voices library, audio-upload-guided creation for subscribers, and a waveform-oriented Sessions workflow. Generation remains probabilistic: prompts, lyrics, vocalist instructions, and instrumentation can be ignored or rendered imperfectly.
Udio's current legal and export position is the decisive limitation. After its October 2025 Universal Music Group partnership, Udio disabled downloads of audio, video, and stems. The live terms say users may not download or distribute outputs, reserve output ownership to Udio or its licensors, and limit user output use to personal, noncommercial purposes. That makes the current service a creation-and-listening environment, not a dependable source of music for client work, monetized releases, ads, games, podcasts, or external distribution.

Confirm that the project can remain inside Udio and does not require a downloadable, distributable, client-owned, or monetizable master.
