What SearchGPT Prototype was
OpenAI introduced SearchGPT in July 2024 to test timely, conversational answers with prominent links and publisher attribution. It was offered only to a limited group of users and publishers, and OpenAI described it as temporary from the start.
In October 2024, OpenAI launched ChatGPT search and said feedback from SearchGPT informed the integrated experience. There is no standalone SearchGPT product to join today; current users can search from ChatGPT on the web, desktop and mobile apps.
