What PlayAI was
PlayAI was a voice AI company known earlier as PlayHT. Its platform offered text-to-speech, voice cloning, real-time speech models, and tools for building conversational voice agents.
Meta acquired PlayAI in July 2025 and brought the team into its AI organization. The standalone PlayAI service subsequently closed, so it is not a product we recommend starting a new voice workflow on today.
