YOUTUBE

The Rundown: YouTube just previewed two new AI music experiments to clone artist voices and co-create tools with musicians in partnership with Google DeepMind’s brand-new AI music generation model, ‘Lyria’.

The details:

  • ‘Dream Track’ generates 30-second AI vocal tracks from text prompts.

  • Music AI tools also in development include humming a melody to generate instrumentals and seamlessly editing the style of a track.

  • Participating musicians include T-Pain, Charlie Puth, Sia, Demi Lovato, and John Legend.

  • It will be limited to a small test group as YouTube gathers feedback to shape future products.

The relevance: What text-to-image models did for unlocking new creative potential, new audio tools will likely do for music creators. The cherry on top is some seriously big-time musicians collaborating on the AI project.

TOGETHER WITH NOTION

The Rundown: How many hours have you spent trying to find that one piece of info in your Notion database? Search no more, my friend - Notion’s new Q&A feature has you covered.

Like your own personal librarian, Q&A navigates through the labyrinth of your notes, files, and ideas. It's more than a search bar; it's your direct line to instant knowledge retrieval within Notion.

Welcome to a new era of efficiency – where your Notion becomes an open book at your command (you know, like an actual Second Brain).

META

The Rundown: Meta just announced two new AI-powered creative tools, Emu Edit, and Emu Video, being integrated into Facebook and Instagram.

The details:

  • Emu Edit allows users to make image edits with text instructions, with the model intuitively understanding without specific selections.

  • Emu Video can generate short video clips and animations using text prompts, images, or both as inputs.

  • Both features will be integrated into FB and IG, getting AI capabilities directly into the user’s hands instead of through third-party tools.

Our thoughts: Integrating generative AI abilities into mainstream apps like Facebook and Instagram broadens access and creativity — and is another great trojan horse for broader adoption and acceptance of AI.

AI TRAINING

Want to start making music, without mastering an instrument or having a beautiful voice? New AI models are getting released each week, making it easier than ever for users to express themselves with sound.

Here’s how to generate your own music creation, using Google’s MusicLM:

Step 1: Go to labs.google.com and scroll down to MusicLM to join the beta.

Step 2: Enter a prompt for the type of music or sound you want to create. For our example below: “an epic viking score for a battle scene of a movie”.

Step 3: MusicLM will generate two 30-second audio files based on your prompt. Modify your description to change the results, or click the three dots to download or share your creation.

Start dipping your toes into the AI-generated music waters — soon the only limitation on creating will be what you can imagine!

QUICK HITS

Microsoft just partnered with the mobile app Be My Eyes to bring AI-powered visual assistance to blind customers. Using GPT-4, digital visual assistant ‘Be My AI’ resolves issues in just four minutes without human agents — with the collaboration helping to automate support for underserved groups.

Screenshots are circulating that show ChatGPT potentially gaining long-term memory — with the image showing upgrades like the ability for GPT to learn between chats, improve over time, and manage what it remembers.

95% of top AI academics called today's audio and video deepfake tech "advanced", with experts unnerved by AI's deceptive powers in a new survey from Axios. With detection still lagging, most saw certification as the best defense against persuasive fakes.
