The Rundown: OpenAI just announced DALL-E 3, a massive update to the text-to-image platform that will integrate directly into ChatGPT and significantly improve quality.
Details:
DALL-E 3 decreases ‘prompt engineering,’ allowing users to speak conversationally with ChatGPT to generate image outputs.
Examples show the capability to accurately generate text — a major unlock seen recently in Ideogram but still absent in Midjourney.
The update will be available to Plus and Enterprise users in October.
Artists can opt out of images from future model training, while DALL-E 3 will also decline to emulate living artists' styles.

The Rundown: Amazon just revealed a new Alexa voice assistant powered by a proprietary LLM, explicitly designed for smart home control and more natural conversations.
Key points:
The new Alexa LLM will allow interrupting, changing requests, and answering vague queries like a human.
New dev tools also let device makers tap Alexa's AI to enable more conversational product controls.
Amazon is cautiously rolling it out in the U.S. first to test real-world performance before expanding access.
Our thoughts: The breakneck speed of AI advancements has made consumer assistants like Alexa and Siri feel… primitive. Infusing more advanced AI into these widely adopted voice assistants is a sorely needed move — and one that may finally make them actually useful.
