The details:
OpenAI's recruiters are focused on luring senior AI talent at Google working on models like Gemini.
The supersized offers come as OpenAI nears completion of a major employee stock sale that could triple its valuation.
New AI chip projects, including Microsoft’s ‘Athena’ and AMD’s MI300X, could provide hardware advantages to OpenAI versus Google's TPUs.

The Rundown: The SAG-AFTRA actors strike has finally ended after reaching a tentative deal, following months of negotiations over AI use and streaming residuals.
The details:
The 118-day strike was the longest in Hollywood history, halting many productions.
A major sticking point was reuse of AI scans to digitally recreate actors without consent or compensation.
The studios' previous proposal allowed unlimited scans of veteran actors post-mortem, which the union opposed.
The final deal concedes some restrictions and payments around AI model use — and comes on the heels of Hollywood writers securing landmark restrictions on studios' use of AI scripts in September.
Why it matters: The strike ends for now, letting Hollywood productions resume. But with AI’s growth not likely to slow any time soon, the issue of its use in the industry is likely far from settled.

A new report shows AI tools like ChatGPT are transforming knowledge work, with low-performing employees seeing the biggest benefit. The key for workers — becoming "cyborgs" and "centaurs," meshing AI into workflows vs handing off tasks.
