The Rundown: Microsoft just went HAM at their Microsoft Surface and AI event, announcing Microsoft 365 Copilot and 365 Chat, and significant updates to Windows 11 and Bing.
Microsoft 365 Copilot/Chat:
Microsoft introduces new capabilities for Copilot in Outlook, Word, Excel, Loop, OneNote, and OneDrive.
Microsoft reveals 365 Chat — search across ALL your info, including emails, meetings, chats, documents, and more, plus the web.
Like an assistant, 365 Chat deeply understands you, your job, your priorities, and your organization and can assist with tedious tasks.
Windows 11:
Microsoft unveils Copilot directly integrated into Windows 11 coming for free on Sept. 26th.
Windows 11 apps like Word, Paint, and Edge also gain AI features like background removal, image creation, and enhanced search.
Bing:
Bing will make the latest OpenAI text-to-image model DALL-E 3 accessible all for free (demo).
Bing will also have more personalized answers based on history, a new AI shopping experience, and updates to Bing Chat Enterprise.

The Rundown: YouTube just announced several new AI-powered tools at its creator event, including generated backgrounds, video topic ideas, and music searches.
Key points:
A "Dream Screen" feature will create AI photo/video backdrops for Shorts based on text prompts.
An AI music recommendation system will also match songs to video descriptions.
The updates add to existing AI video summarization features as YouTube taps into parent company Google's investments.

Here’s a quick tutorial on how to create your own:
Step 1: Create your text: Using Canva, Photoshop, or another tool, create a blank white page with just the text you’d like to incorporate into a design. Choose a thick, bold font for better results.
Step 2: Upload and prompt. Using either Illusion Diffusion or FusionArt, upload your text as the pattern. Then, write the prompt for what you’d like to create — for the example below, we used ‘oil painting of a colorful, beautiful flower field in Europe.’
Step 3: Refine and adjust. Continue tweaking the prompt and the ‘Illusion Weight/Strength’ scale until you get your perfect result!

Cisco is snapping up cybersecurity firm Splunk in a whopping $28 billion deal — with the company aiming to boost its defenses against emerging AI threats. Cisco says the purchase will “drive the next generation of AI-enabled security and observability.”
This week, Bollywood star Anil Kapoor secured a court order to block unauthorized AI use of his image and voice. The move bars creating merchandise or distorted videos with his likeness without consent — with Kapoor saying the victory protects actors' rights as AI tech evolves.
UPS is leveraging AI to stop packages from being swiped, rolling out a system that scores delivery addresses on theft risk. It helps merchants decide between shipping straight to homes or pick-up points — aiming to curb the surging trend of "porch piracy."
