NVIDIA Research has developed Neuralangelo (great name), an AI model that leverages neural networks for 3D reconstruction from 2D video clips.
Neuralangelo generates highly detailed and textured 3D structures, allowing creative professionals to import them into design applications for various purposes like art, video game development, and robotics.
The model excels at translating intricate textures from 2D videos, surpassing previous methods and enabling developers to rapidly create virtual objects using smartphone footage (here’s a great before and after).
It’s technology like this that is going to become widely adopted in the coming years. When skills (such as 3D modeling and rendering) become democratized to anyone with a smartphone, the possibilities truly become endless.
